It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The top summits have long been mastered.

We're talking about the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their hitters to hold a record if not provided the possibility.

Finally, the result of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy being given a platform to deliver her newest gem.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her debut and seven international trophies have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

If this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Certain people claim the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this performance was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in training, it has been a disappointing period because it appeared my form was missing completely," stated Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts activate and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from there Healy was on her way.

"A chance to play and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

By the time she was out the team required another 66 at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm pleased we have the belief to do that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if we do, we know we can succeed."

These statements will be the final thing competing nations at this tournament should hear.

During the last week a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this victory coming after victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

During that phase they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a significant event.

So great is her will, she later said she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have postponed consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is likely to be her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as captain.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
